Episode 7: Can We Just Agree That Anime is More Popular Here?

Mike Toole swings by to help determine why anime is more popular in Canada than it is in other regions like the United States. I don't think we find a definitive answer, but along the way we talk about Otakon, the 80s Astro Boy dub that aired on Global, World Masterpiece Theatre on Radio-Canada, and that elusive Dragon Ball Kai Ocean dub.

  1. I love that Astro Boy dub on global. I didn't even know there was another dub for the US. I was going to buy those dvds that came out in the early 2000s. That's when i learned they had a different dub. I was annoyed that i couldn't get a dvd with our dub. In fact aside for one or two episodes i found on youtube, it was nowhere to be found.
It'd be a shame to loose that dub to history. I have fond memories watching it when i came home for lunch from school in the 80s. I really want to get a hold of the series with the Canadian dub.
